Why does tala ask Eddie to " wash " her what symbolic about the act?

Tala asks Eddie to wash away her burns. This represents the washing away of Tala's pain as well as the washing away of Eddie's sins. This is an allusion to the New Testament when Jesus washes the feet of people.
