The gift of the magi
This is only a short-answer space but I can give you a general comment on Jim. Jim is a loving husband. We know this not because he gives up a possession he treasures in order to give his wife something she dearly wants, but because he is so incredibly touched by the gift that she has bought for him. He also understands that the true meaning of the gifts they have given each other is not what the gifts are, but what they represent. He also understands that the greatest gift they have is each other, and it is his suggestion that they put away the presents, and pay their full attention to each other.
