CHAP 20-23 what reaction do you think the author intends the reader to have to Father's 'sweet, sing-song voice' when he uses it on page 165?

The reader's response to Jonas' father's sing-song voice might take on any number of reactions. My reaction was one disgust, as his words were meant to be calming, but as they were threatening and sarcastic all at the same time. For some they might invoke fear at the realization that Gabe might be released before Jonas can steal him away. Regardless, we all come to understand the lack of emotion within the community, even if we haven't understood it before. "It's bye-bye to you, Gabe, in the morning....", that's just about as heartless as it gets.
