Considering how The Giver is different from others who live in the community, what do you think about the way the people in the community live? How do you think the author wants us to feel about the community now?

The giver carries the burden of emotion that the community does not. This makes the Giver tired and weary. The people in the community live childlike existences. Their lives are one dimensional and homogeneous. It think the author wants t=us to feel rather sad and frustrated about a community that cannot process core emotions.
