Did Jonas agree or disagree with the committee's choice of him as the new Receiver?

In Chapter 8 Jonas confused about his role as new Receiver of Memory. He feels fear because he will have to endure physical pain and become separate or estranged from family and friends. He also feels an odd pride because the members of the community are impressed with him.
