In what ways was Jonas world perfect?

Jonas's world only seems "perfect" on the surface of things. The weather is always nice, there is not murder or social problems. There seems to be little pain or suffering. This "utopia", however, is actually a dystopia. Everything is controlled, including the weather, by a small group of people known only as the "Elders". There is a dark underbelly of society, like breeding women to supply babies to the community. Anything or anybody that do not conform to narrow standards of "normality" are done away with.
