 Yes I do agree. Jonas's job is too unnatural and stressful. He cannot remain complacent while the community caries on with the emotional maturity of children. He cannot sit by while babies and the elderly are "let go." Jonas would rather die than facilitate for the elders and let something happen to Gabriel.
