It's almost as if the failure of the first receiver was an embarrassment that needed to be buried. A better way of handling the situation might have been to sit down and figure out how to make the assignment of receiver less arduous or possibly taking their choices and waiting until their older and more mature. The receiver is asked to endure things that no one but the Giver can understand. Passing those things on to someone who cannot talk or explain them is a huge responsibility.
