The Giver
What does Jonas conclude about the freedom to choose? How does he feel after coming to this conclusion? Why do you think he feels this way?
Helppp Pleasee!!
Helppp Pleasee!!
Jonas learns that making choices is difficult, but sometimes the choices we make cause things to be even more difficult than it would have been otherwise. Danger causes Jonas to question the choice he's made, but he doesn't regret having made it. It's all about the opportunity and having options. Having the chance to make your own decision makes them worthwhile.......... no matter whether they're right or wrong.
It was as simple as that. Once he had yearned for choice. Then, when he had had a choice, he had made the wrong one: the choice to leave. And now he was starving. (22.20)
