Why doesn't Jonas seem to have a niche?

Jonas doesn't seem to have a niche because he is good at so many things, enjoys most everything, but doesn't seem to be meant to do anything specific. By the time the Ceremony of Twelve takes place, we see that even Jonas isn't quite sure what will happen, though, he is very sure of his friend's future assignments. Jonas is different, and he realizes he is different, but he isn't quite sure where it will all lead.
