57. Explain the significance of Professor Fuchs’ confrontation with Jeannette on page 256.

When discussing the homeless and underpriviledged, Professor Fuch (one of Jeannette's favorite teachers) calls on and then confronts her about the plight of and answer to poverty. In the end, the Professor is angered by Jeannette's solutions and arguments..... questioning the premise and legitimacy of her solutions and opinions. She asks, "What do you know about the lives of the underprivileged?" she asked. She was practically trembling with agitation. "What do you know about the hardships and obstacles that the underclass faces?"

Jeannette doesn't acknowledge the challenge, and her favorite professor fails to see that Jeannette is one of the underprivileged herself. Jeannette, on the other hand, refuses to be baited.
