Explain how the father teaches Jeanette to lose her fear of demons

When Jeanette tells her father she believes something is under her bed, he partners with his daughter to rid the home of the demon. The two start out with a wrench and a knife (Rex tells Jeanette the demon has been trying to get him for years), and then search the house for the allusive demon with no luck. Afterward, Rex tells his daughter that if you show demons you're not afraid of them, they will not hurt you!
