Jeanette's justifications for her parents' behavior come from her desire to excuse them. She loves her parents, and to admit that they are bad parents would cause her to question their love for her. She knows her parents love her.... they simply have no parenting skills. Nor, do they giut thve thought to anyone but themselves. They are selfish, self-serving, and neglectful.
