Rose marry is an artistic "excitement" addict. She feels she is a non-conformist who wants to teach her children to be free of society's constraints. She pretty much puts her children in dangerous and unstable situations like cooking hot dogs on a barbeque. She has very few boundaries which leaves the older children to parent the younger ones.
