Why is Maureen different from the rest of the kids?

While the other Walls kids quickly learned resiliance and how to take care of themselves, Maureen was different. The youngest of the siblings, Maureen looked to others to take care of her. Jeannette writes, "Ever since she was a kid, she'd been looking for someone to take care of her"
