The Golden Compass

Lyra Belacqua is one of the main characters and protagonists in the novel, The Golden Compass. She is eleven-years-old and living in Oxford when we first meet her. Her uncle, Lord Asriel, is her guardian. Lyra believes that her parents were killed in a zeppelin crash, years before the novel begins. Her daemon is named Pantalaimon. Lyra is described as clever, courageous, and a bit of a wild. This, in addition to the fact she likes to tell stories..... tends to get her into trouble.
