How does this shift in power exemplify Steinbeck's Socialist theme?

It isn't until Weedpatch camp that power is shifted to everybody. Once they all have a stake in their own survival, society progresses. That's the ideology that opposes the capitalist system that Steinbeck paints as causing havoc.
