to what extent does ma decision to share dinner with the hungry children at the camp reflect the moral faced by the poor and disenfranchised with regard to their responsibilities toward their own families and toward the larger migrent community

There simply is not enough food for Ma to feed her own family yet starving children see the Joads have at least some food? Ma must choose between the needs of her own family and other migrants. I think Steinbeck brings the moral delema of the poor having to help the poor. The rest of America have turned their backs on these migrants and empathetic poor people like Ma are forced to choose between feeding their own family or other people's kids.
