The Grapes of Wrath

What does it show about the Joads when they befriend the Wilsons? What is the significance of the change from “I” to “We” (p. 165)?

This shows the Joads are not just interested in in protecting and feeding their own family. They still have room in their hearts as well as their meager rations for other families. The shift from "I" to "we" represents a sense of community rather than just individual families.
