(Chapter 8) How does Nick's statement "You're worth the whole bunch put together" show a change in Nick from the beginning of the novel?

Nick has remained fairly objective through the novel. We have see life in East Egg and West Egg through him without a lot of Judgment. By the end of the book we begin to see a slight shift in Nick's character. We see Nick becoming disillusioned with the vacuous society of East Egg. Nobody really cares about Gatsby and that includes Gatsby's obsession Daisy. Nick, however, thinks Gatsby is different. Nick finally puts his disgust foe East Egg and his admiration for Gatsby into words.
