The Great Gatsby

Chapter One: Nick Thinks That, given the state of their marriage, Daisy should leave Tom, but it is clear to him that she has no intention of doing so. What indication is there that Tom and Daisy are closely linked despite their marital difficulties?

Tom and Daisy's marriage is one of convenience and she likes it that way. She likes the money, things, and her place in society. She never once in the novel leads us to believe that she would give any of it up for Gatsby, or even that she'd want to.
