The Great Gatsby

Gatsby cannot get over Daisy and her marriage to Tom. He appears to be extremely naive to the whole situation. Do you think that his obsession with the past is what makes him "ghost"? ch 7

Gatsby is oblivious to the real world. He has tunnel vision, and at the end of the tunnel is a woman...... a woman named Daisy. Gatsby doesn't consider her husband, her daughter, or her friends and obligations. For him, it's simple...... he now has enough money to be worthy, the rest should be simple. Yes, he is obsessed, but I personally do not see him as naive. He doesn't want to see anything but his own goals and desires.... nothing else exists for him. This isn't naivety, this is self-imposed blindness. The reference to "ghost", as it pertained to Gatsby and Daisy was just that..... a refernce that as a pair, they didn't exist.
