Daisy coos over her little girl, showing her off to the guests. The little girl is far more comfortable with her nurse, with whom, she spends most of her time. Daisy treats the girl like a doll on the shelf, and then sends her away to have her put back on the shelf. Daisy's wealth allows her to hire someone else to care for the girl, while Daisy goes about her business.
