How does Gatsby show denial through out the story? Give evidence from the text to support this?

n Chapter one Nick watches Gatsby stretch out his arms towards this light as if it is a sign that he will find what he so desperately longs for. The light represents the illusion that Gatsby is lost in. For Gatsby makes him "tremble." The green light reminds him of Daisy. She is an illusion of new beginnings, love, longing and desire. Daisy of course is actually the opposite of any of these things but not for Gatsby. Daisy is actually self-absorbed and as superficial as the rest of East Egg. Gatsby remains in denial, lost in the illusion of Daisy rather than the reality of Daisy.
