how does the gatsby facade start to fade when he comes over for tea?

Gatsby begins to "freak" and nearly hide when he sees Daisy. He goes into the kitchen with Nick and he feels uncomfortable about seeing Daisy again. Nick tells him to quit being "silly" at which point he begins to communicate with Daisy. Ultimately, the begin to connect after all this time has passed, but Gatsby becomes so intent on Daisy, he simply forgets about everyone else around.
