What effect does the events of the novel have on Nick Carraway?
This question is very similar the last. Nick goes to New York expecting excitement and new experiences. In the beginning it's fun, it's an adventure. Parties, drinking, pretty women, high living; it's easy to get sucked into the life of the rich. In the end, he doesn't want anything to do with it. He evaluates his own life, looks at the dream Gatsby has spent his life trying to achieve and doesn't see it worth giving up everything he's ever been taught is important.
