How is Nick's attitude towards Gatsby ambivalent even at the moment when he says goodbye to him?

Nick shows ambivalence when he walks away. He isn't certain what he should do, but he can see that even after the experiences Gatsby has had...... he's still in the same place- waiting for the same thing.
