What is the meaning of the title the "Great Gatsby"?
If nothing else, Jay Gatsby is determined and innovative. His goal was to make something of himself and win Daisy, he wanted to attain a dream and had everything in place to do just that. The title "Great Gatsby" has always seemed to me to be a name, a billboard or advertisement. It's always reminded me of a kind circus billboard, "The Great Gatsby," the illusionist or magician. Gatsby creates his own character, but it's only a character, he is a master illusionist.
