At the closing of the chapter, after all the events of the day..... Daisy refusing to say she never loved her husband, the accident in which Daisy kills Myrtle, Tom's devastation.... after all of this, Daisy is ensconced in her home with her husband. Gatsby is on the outside looking in.... just like he was to begin with.
