I'd like to know if I'm right if I translate the phrase "He might think he saw a connection in it" by "He might imagine he had discovered / deduced a connection in it" in the following excerpt from the chapter Seven of The Great Gatsby, just after the accident in which Gatsby's car struck Myrtle:
A new point of view occurred to me. Suppose Tom found out that Daisy had been driving. He might think he saw a connection in it—he might think anything.
