What is meant by the quote, “there are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy and the tired”why does nick think of this statement at this particular time?

When Nick says "There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy and the tired", he is inferring that we all fit into on of those categories. Men like Gatsby are pursued, as are sports figures like Jordan. Those who pursue are chasing something..... things that are tangible or people. Gatsby pursues Daisy, Nick pursues both Jordan and Gatsby. To and Jordan best define the people who are busy....... Daisy represents the tired (or shall we say slothful).
