Which character in the novel is the most virtuous? Which is the least? Based on the virtue of his characters, what do you think F. Scott Fitzgerald is implying about the “roaring 20s”?

There isn't a lot of virtue going around in this book. Nick is set up to be most virtuous. This, in part, has to do with his middle-class upbringing away from the rotten stagnation of East Egg money. Nick is quite shocked at the superficiality and vapid sense of entitlement of the filthy rich. I might consider Tom as the worst of the characters. He is a brutish abusive entitled bigot.
