The Great Gatsby

Why did the author Fitzgerald gain from using Nick's point of view to tell Gatsby's story?

I dont know why the author used Nick's point of view to tell the story.

By using Nick as the narator, Fitzgerald achieves objectivity in the telling of his story. Nick brings a sense of morality and values, the other characters know nothing about. He's there, and he participates, but he's always a bit of an outsider......
