Why does Nick, who only met Gatsby less than 3 months ago, choose to look after Gatsby's funeral arrangements?

Nick liked Gatsby. He wasn't like the others from East Egg. Gatsby was living in their world to obtain the love of his life. To Nick, Gatsby represented a Midwest Boy who conjured up fantasy for love. Nick could see flashes of himself in Gatsby , but much less shinier. Nick felt for Gatsby in the end, Nick felt Gatsby was better than the vacuous East Enders, he was "worth the whole damn bunch put together.”
