My copy of the text has fifteen chapters, are you sure you've provided the correct information in your post?

In Gilead, love is virtually nonexistent. Each of the women yearns for something more than sexuality..... they feel the need for a connection.... something deeper. Love is a memory.... something that the new regime has aboilished, just as it has limited the movements of women. Emotions are seen as dangerous, thus, even memories are hidden, though it is the memories that provide Offred the strength to go on.... love for her family keeps her from going crazy.
