This unit opens with a Night section. What is noticeable or diffrent about the content, mood, style and/or tone of these sections of the novel?

It's hot, dark (the searchlights are not working), and filled with electricity. The mood has definitely moved to one of romance, even though Nick implicitly says, "No romance, OK?" Methinks he doth protest too much!
