There is really very little stated about what the future is like in the context of the epilogue. We just read about Pieixoto's snide criticisms about Offred's accounts. Certainly even our present has shades of Offred's story, especially in some cultures but I don't see enough detail in the future outlined in the epilogue for a definitive statement.
