what does offred do to disrupt the accepted order? when does she choose to go along with societal constraint? why?

Offred walks a fine line. She becomes involved with the commander beyond the perimeters of their sanctioned relationship. She has "emotional" intimacy with him. She does this largely to gain favours from the Commander. Offred isn't a hero as we typically know. She does break the rules but largely to achieve personal goals. She goes through with the "conception ceremony" yet schemes to make the most of her role.
