The Prince asks the swallow to distribute the gemstones to various families in need, from the ruby of his hilt, to this eyes made of sapphires and the golden leaves covering his body. By the time Winter arrives, the Happy Prince is stripped of all its beauty while the swallow dies of exhaustion and the harsh cold.
