why doesn’t Big Mav know about Chris?

Chris is Starr's boyfriend. He shares Starr's love for Jordan sneakers and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. However, he's also rich and white. I don't think Starr is able to process telling her father about Chris: this would break so many racial and economic taboos in the black community.
