Corrie's entire family came to her rescue when they met Karel's fiancee'. Mama made the coffee, Tante Anna passed cakes around, and Betsie began talking with the young woman. Her father also talked with Karel offering love, understanding, and wisdom. In essence, the family gathered around Corrie, so she didn't have to do anything.
