America is, according to Gorman, is a place of unending potential to be a just society for all. America is not yet that place. It is filled with racial. social, and political division. America can be great if they acknowledge their problems and try to fix them.

We'll do this because being American isn't just about being patriotic. It's about acknowledging our troubled past, addressing our problems rather than pretending they're not there, and doing something to fix them.
