an elf gives the company the choice of singing or eating. how do their reactions fit their characters?

There is not much about individual characters reacting to the Elves. All were hungry. Bilbo would not have minded to hear the songs because, Elvish singing is not a thing to miss, in June under the stars, not if you care for such things. I think rather that they were all hungry so they ate first.
