What kind of leader was Thorin? Was he heroic in any sense? If so, how? Should we respect him? Do his actions in the novel make him deserving of his death at the end? Share your thoughts.

I actually really liked the character of Thorn. Yes, he's proud, and he's stubborn, and he's greedy (a major trait of the dwarves), but in the end he dies with humility and a great sense of purpose.... he's remorseful, and he tries to make things right. I enjoyed his bluster, and the antics spurred on by anything worth money. Was he deserving of death..... well, you knew someone would die. Should we respect him? Yes, I think he reseemed himself and is deserving of our respect.
