What was the purpose of the conversations between Jahrling and Geisbert? What came of this conversation?

Geisbert went to Jahrling because there was something wrong with the flasks containing the virus cells. The cells were sick. Nothing came of the conversation immediately because the men then left for a long Thanksgiving weekend.
