What can you say about the personalities of the four people in this chapter? Chapter 9

Miss. Stapleton seems to have no backbone. We know from previous chapters that she's frightened, but her behavior can be seen as erratic.... we aren't sure what she's all about.

Mr. Stapleton is overbearing and hard to read. Might he be a jealous man and why?

Watson is his regular self..... intelligent, curious and observant.

Sir Henry is a bit of a mystery..... he wants help, and yet, he doesn't. He proposes to a woman he barely knows, and he needlessly puts himself in danger. We might describe him as reckless.
