After the bloodbath, Katniss recalls seeing the District 4 boy amongst those who are dead.

After the bloodbath and Katniss had just settled in for the night when she recalled seeing the male tribute from District 4 amongst the 11 dead tributes. She said "I didn't expect that one, normally all the Career Tributes survive the first day". Why did Cato, the District 2 male kill the District 4 male when he is a Career Tribute as well? Why didn't he kill the female tribute from District 4?

Cato killed the District 4 male because he was ruthless... his only desire was to kill as many of his opponents as possible. He didn't kill the female from District 4 because they were both allies of the Career Tributes from Districts 1 & 2.
