How Katniss's experiences with poverty give her an advantage over the tributes from richer district?

Katniss knows what it is like to survive or starve. Unlike some of the Tributes, Katniss has been hardened by life in the poverty stricken District 12. She has learned to hunt with a bow and arrow with great expertise. She can use herbs for medication like she learned from her mother. She knows how to camp and be hungry.
