Where did Hollis hit, and what was his last wish?

Hollis hit the earth, falling through the sky and visible to a mother and her son in Illinois. We are not told what the little boy wishes for..... only that his mother tells him to wish on the falling star (Hollis). Hollis merely wonders if anyone will see him.
