How does Wilde satirize the prejudices of the British aristocracy through Lady Bracknell's interview with Jack?
Throughout the play, Wilde uses Lady Bracknell as a representative of her class. In her interview with Jack, her questions indicate that she values ignorance over education, idle wealth over occupation, fashionable appearances over substance, and good breeding above all else. These questions (and her witty if condescending commentary on Jack's responses) are intended to highlight the superficiality of the British upper class by magnifying it to an absurd degree.
